I'm trying to create an MDL app that will run in the background while the user has a .dgn open. That seems to work, if I add it to MS_DGNAPPS. I tried MS_INITAPPS, but I'm not trying to create a frontend, and couldn't figure out how to let it start my AddIn and then revert to the normal UI. Is there a way to have the addin register itself in MS_DGNAPPS? Or maybe that's part of the install process for the addin? Like adding a file to `MicroStation\config\appl`?
The addin should also be able to import models from a .dgn on disk into the open .dgn. I found this article, [View:https://communities.bentley.com/products/programming/microstation_programming/f/343173/t/94825:940:0] which was great for the VBA side, but I can't figure out where I would get access to some of the objects that are used from inside the AddIn. Any suggestions as to where to start looking?
And I'm starting to wonder if I offended someone - I've been trying to ask how to go about joining the BDN so we can get access to the SDKs, but all the instructions I got were for someone who was already connected to a company, and I am the one who has to go about setting up the company, and it's been taking two weeks to hear anything back. Really frustrating to be told something to do, not be able to do it, and have no way to go about making it so I can do it, and not getting replies back to my emails for over a week while trying to figure out the first step.
