Not sure I understand your point. If the Registry path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Bentley/MicroStation/{GUID} how would one 'list all by version' or 'default to highest'?
Suppose customer has three versions of CONNECT installed, with Registry keys...
