- Start with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- VBA is part of MicroStation, and it's also part of Microsoft's Office apps.
- You don't have to buy or learn a separate tool such as Viz Studio
- There is a huge number of web sites that deal with VBA
- You can read other people's questions and answers
- There are lots of 'how do I do this?' guides
- There are plenty of text books about VBA
- There's even one, Learning MicroStation VBA, published by Bentley Systems about MicroStation VBA
- If you learn VBA for, say, Excel you will find it easy to move to VBA for another app. such as Word or MicroStation
- MicroStation VBA is built from Microsoft's VBA Toolkit
- VBA help is delivered with MicroStation, including examples
